Workshop Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, state Title V leaders will be able to:

  1. Define the context and purpose of the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation cycle in state Title V programs.
  2. Describe strategies for incorporating needs assessment activities in ongoing efforts.
  3. Assess the relationship between ongoing efforts and the prioritization process.
  4. Identify strategies for linking state-derived priorities, and performance measures to actual programmatic activities.
  5. Identify options for the implementation of new initiatives.
  6. Discuss the role of stakeholders as ongoing partners in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation process.
  7. Describe the process of strategic planning and the role of ongoing monitoring of implementation successes and failures.
  8. Embrace and promote the importance of evaluation in program management and leadership.
  9. Articulate the role of a leader in managing change and discuss several strategies for managing change effectively.
  10. Effectively contribute to larger public health system planning and incorporate the MCH Essential Services into state and local public health strategic plans.
  11. Connect with colleagues across states with shared interests and shared challenges for ongoing state-to-state mentoring.
